Iran short ‘Driving Lessons’ to vie at US filmfest

The Brattleboro Women’s Film Festival is to host Iranian acclaimed short ‘Driving Lessons’.

The Brattleboro Women’s Film Festival in the US has scheduled to host Iranian acclaimed short ‘Driving Lessons’.

Directed by Marzieh Riahi, the award-winning short will be in competition at the 29th edition of the US event.

The 13-minute flick narrates the story of a young woman named Bahareh who must have her traditional controlling husband accompany her on driving lessons so she and her male instructor would not be alone. Things might not be good on that lesson when the husband and the instructor do not get along well.

Linda Kiani, the star of the flick is a familiar face to ifilmers as she has been in a number of shows televised by the channel, including ‘Until Being with Sorayya’, ‘Warm Breath’, ‘Matador’ and ‘Mehrabad’.

‘Driving Lessons’ has so far attended a number of international events and won some awards, including the jury’s special award at the Film Festival for Women’s Rights in South Korea, the best short drama award at the “I Will Tell” international film festival in the UK and the best film award at the Religion Today Film Festival in Italy.

According to the official website of the Brattleboro Women’s Film Festival the event is a “platform for women to tell their own stories”. The event that holds annually accepts films from around the world.

The latest edition of the film festival is slated for March 20-29, 2020.
